Europe – Slow Travel
Almost all of my travel over the past 15 years or so has been within Europe – though I do still sometimes consider trips further afield, and over the past couple of years have travelled to Cincinnati, Taiwan and South Korea – and wherever possible I go by rail rather than flying, whether that’s jumping across the Channel to France or heading further to the Austrian Alps. This has been a conscious decision – partly because there is simply such an amazing and seemingly inexhaustible variety of things to see and experience on this wonderful continent of ours; partly as a way to balance family and work; partly as a way to reduce my carbon footprint; and partly from a preference for slow travel.
