Travel Plans

Hiking, biking, culture – trips to Croatia, France, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia and more

Plans for upcoming European travel include Croatia (Zagreb, Zadar, coast and islands, national parks and intangible cultural heritage), Slovenia (Juliana Trail, Triglav National Park, Ljubljana), Albania and Macedonia (High Scardus Trail), Austria (Salzkammergut) and France (Vélobuissonnière, Pas-de-Calais, Vanoise, Dordogne and Vercors). Interested in commissioning an article, writing or photography from one of these trips? Want to discuss another press trip? Please get in touch.

Europe – Slow Travel

Most of my travel over the past ten years or so has been within Europe (though I do still sometimes travel further afield), and wherever possible I go by rail rather than flying, whether that’s jumping across the Channel to France or heading further to the Austrian Alps. This has been a conscious decision – partly because there is simply such an amazing and semingly exaustible variety of things to see and experience on this wonderful continent of ours; partly from a preference for slow travel; and partly as a way to reduce my carbon footprint.

Trips planned for 2021/22 include (but it’s all up to Covid):

Slovenia – Juliana Trail, Julian Alps, Triglav National Park, Bled, Bohinj, Vipava Valley, wildlife watching, wine
Croatia – Zagreb, Rijeka, Zadar, islands, hiking on Velebit and in Paklenica National Park
