As some of you already know, I’m currently walking, cycling and ferry-hopping my way around some of Croatia’s 1,185 or so islands, while working on a new hiking guidebook for Cicerone – so here’s the fourth of several posts on some highlights from the roof of the Croatian Adriatic…
The small church of Sveti Duh, near the top of Hum, the highest point on the island of Vis

Love Vis 🙂
I love the intimacy of your photographs, as though you are finding the soul of the country. And I very much like that its the side streets, the disused lanes and the unmarked or unknown moments of history that you are capturing.
The ancient Greeks believed that by speaking of those who have past, we keep them alive in this world and the next. I like to think this is true, but not only through thinking and talking of those most recently departed, but of those unknown and unsung who once walked were we now sunbath and shop. In my perception of the world, photography like yours makes the unmarked and seemingly uneventful once again alive and precious. Thank you.
Thank you, Nikola – that is one of the nicest compliments you could have given me.
