Dancing Procession of Echternach (1)

Dancing Procession of Echternach, Luxembourg (Whit Tuesday, 26 May 2015). Around 40 groups of pilgrims and participants ‘dance’ their way around the small town of Echternach in the eastern part of Luxembourg, following a route which culminates in the Basilica of St Willibrord, accompanied by musicians and watched by thousands of spectators. The dancing procession of Echternach is first recorded in the 15th century, and in 2010 was inscribed on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. © Rudolf Abraham
