Baby Milk Action protest outside Nestlé’s UK headquarters in Croydon, Saturday 19 May 2012
Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation working within a global network to strengthen independent, transparent and effective controls on the marketing of the baby feeding industry. The global network is called IBFAN (the International Baby Food Action Network), a network of over 200 citizens groups in more than 100 countries.
From Baby Milk Action’s website:
‘A breastfed child is less likely to suffer from gastroenteritis, respiratory and ear infections, diabetes, allergies and other illnesses. In areas with unsafe water a bottle-fed child is up to 25 times more likely to die as a result of diarrhoea. Reversing the decline in breastfeeding could save 1.5 million lives around the world every year. That is why a marketing code was introduced in 1981 to regulate the marketing of breastmilk substitutes – yet companies continue to violate its provisions.’
For more information on Baby Milk Action and their campaign against Nestlé and the way it markets its formula milk (particularly in third world countries) see http://info.babymilkaction.org.

Nice bit of storytelling with photos Rudolf. Sometimes I think serious demos look a bit too much fun to be taken serious….if that makes sense?
Derek.
